About Maggie Volpo

Maggie Volpo is a writer and activist living outside of a very conservative urban area. She has worked in traditional publishing, journalism, as a blogger, and in the medical field as a translator. When she isn't fighting the tyranny of cannabis prohibition or working on the Stinky Steve books about cannabis she can often be found searching for mushrooms or tending to her mixed flock of birds. She also loves to cook, bake, garden, knit, sew and climb trees, the last of which is a joy shared by her beautiful autistic son.

Last week Thursday, I had the immense pleasure of hearing two inspirational world-changers speak at a local venue in my hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan. The DEA is Obsolete and Needs to be Dissolved or Overhauled

Many mainstream media outlets have been noting that Michelle Leonhart’s resignation from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) presents a perfect opportunity for real policy reform in the United States. Those who preach compassion and rehabilitation and harm reduction instead of criminalization are often dismissed as “bleeding heart liberals” willing to give anyone a free […]

Kawaii Products Review: Tasty Peach Studios and the Art of Ryan Zanfei

For those not familiar with the word “kawaii,” it’s a Japanese word that means cute. This is the kind of cute that makes people squeal when they see a basket of puppies, not the kind of cute pre-teens or your mom think the guys from One Direction are. When people refer to something as kawaii, […]

Review: Adagio Teas ‘Doctor Who’ Tea Blend Sampler

The best thing about living in the city was how I could walk or bike from our house to a number of great stores, including a fair trade bulk tea and herb store. I have loved tea since I was a teenager: all kinds of green tea, white tea, jasmine pearls, herbal teas, homemade chais, […]

Australia: Cooper’s Parents Will Not Be Pursued Any Longer for His Cannabis Treatment

Here’s some positive news from the land down under: 4-year-old Cooper Wallace can legally resume his cannabis oil treatment for his seizures and the child abuse investigation of his parents is finished.
