About Maggie Volpo

Maggie Volpo is a writer and activist living outside of a very conservative urban area. She has worked in traditional publishing, journalism, as a blogger, and in the medical field as a translator. When she isn't fighting the tyranny of cannabis prohibition or working on the Stinky Steve books about cannabis she can often be found searching for mushrooms or tending to her mixed flock of birds. She also loves to cook, bake, garden, knit, sew and climb trees, the last of which is a joy shared by her beautiful autistic son.

PRODUCT REVIEW: E-Clipse Dry Herbal Vaporizer

I have never had good luck with vaporizing flower. Over the course of my adult life as a cannabis consumer, I have tried three different vaporizing systems, none of which I will name here. I will say, however, that all three of them left me very disappointed. After the third one, I basically decided that […]

Psychedelics and Other Banned Drugs Offer Hope for Those With Mental Health Issues

Mental health issues are often unaddressed in modern society. Many people view issues like depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation as signs that someone simply isn’t trying hard enough. There is a lot of social stigma attached to seeking help for mental health issues. That stigma can put people off from trying therapeutic options or counseling. […]

Alcohol Is Killing my Generation. We Need to Legalize Cannabis.

Alcohol Is Killing my Generation. We Need to Legalize Cannabis.

For as long as alcohol has been a part of human culture, it has had a worrisome impact on relationships and human health. Before the rise of potable water and municipal filtration systems, drinking alcohol was a daily activity for many humans (although they did drink water, too). At this point in history, we arguably […]

PRODUCT REVIEW: The Saber Wax Vape Pen

I recently had the incredible experience of traveling to a state with cannabis legalization for a business trip. That meant that I was not responsible for my son, and that I got to take advantage of the ready availability of cannabis in retail dispensaries.   That trip just happened to overlap with an offer from […]

Suicide Rates are on the Rise, and Cannabis Could Help Reduce Them

Content Note: This article discusses suicide and suicidal ideation.   Suicide rates are climbing to a point where officials have begun talking about this as a public health issue, not a mental health issue.
