In 2010, Christy Shake, whose ten-year-old son Calvin suffers from intractable epilepsy, began documenting her family’s journey raising their severely disabled boy. Her blog “Calvin’s Story” is an honest, often raw, account of their hardships and their rewards, employing prose, photography and an occasional poem. Her work appeared in the August 2014 issue of The Sun magazine and she is currently writing a memoir. Christy lives in Maine with her husband Michael, their son Calvin and their golden-doodle, Nellie.
