Dr. Bronner’s Donates Toward Oregon Psilocybin Effort

Psychedelic research and legalization measures have historically been somewhat controversial, with many businesses choosing to stay far away from an issue that they believe could potentially alienate some of their customer base. However, some companies recognize that psychedelics and legalization fit in perfectly with their branding.

Dr. Bronner’s Miracle Soap is a company that has long appealed to outcasts, preppers, hippies, and environmental activists because of their ethical (and incredibly useful) product. It’s a little surprise, then, that Dr. Bronner’s company continues to be a passionate and outspoken advocate for psychedelic research and legalization. They have donated to a number of efforts and charities in the past.

Recently, Dr. Bronner’s has made yet another large, high-profile donation to the Oregon Psilocybin Service. This group is run by Oregon psychotherapists who want to legalize psilocybin for therapeutic uses in Oregon. Their donation is a full $150,000, which will be matching funds to help incentivize other donors.

Psilocybin, the active compound in hallucinogenic mushrooms, has shown promise in the treatment of otherwise intractable depression and severe mental health issues. Unfortunately, despite the fact that fatally overdosing on psilocybin is effectively impossible, it is illegal to use for medical research purposes across the country. Oregon could soon be the first state to allow counselors and therapists to administer this potent, natural medicine in a safe setting to help those with serious mental health issues.

If you haven’t tried their soaps and other products yet, Dr. Bronner’s is worth trying on the value of their products alone. However, their excellent policies and desire to push for drug policy reform make them a great company to support!
