New Jersey Cancels Cannabis Vote

Millions of patients and activists, as well as general cannabis enthusiasts, were left disappointed on Monday, March 25th, 2019, when New Jersey lawmakers failed to follow through on a cannabis reform initiative.

Lawmakers had promised a vote on pending bill to legalization recreational cannabis for everyone over the age of 21. They promised a vote today, but instead decided to delay it, citing an apparent lack of support.

It is possible that lawmakers will vote as soon as this upcoming May on legalization. Until then, New Jersey will continue to uphold prohibition. This move increases the chances that other nearby states will beat New Jersey to the proverbial punch and legalize before they do. Here’s hoping lawmakers in the Garden State can get things together soon.
