October 1st is World Vegetarian Day! In order to drive attention for Vegetarian Awareness Month every October is kicked off with World Vegetarian Day.
There are lots of reasons why vegetarianism or partial vegetarianism is a wise choice. It reduces an individual’s environmental impact significantly, provides possible health/weight loss benefits, and reduces expenses associated with healthy eating substantially. Being vegetarian can take a lot of extra effort and willpower, and the staff and writers here at Ladybud would like to tip our hats to the folks who put animal welfare above personal pleasure and comfort.
Consider giving up meat and animal products for a day, a week, or even the entire month. As the harvest rolls in, this is one of the best times of year to focus on plant-based foods. Experiment with brussel sprouts and get crazy with the kohlrabi.
Check out the World Vegetarian Day website, where they’re hosting a contest. If you get a friend to sign up to go vegetarian during October, they have a chance to win $1,000. They can sign a pledge card or pledge online, but the contest begins today. Follow them on Facebook for neat updates and encouragement throughout the month.
