MISSOURI: Life, Liberty, & the Pursuit of Happiness Money Bomb

Since 2012, Show-Me Cannabis has commemorated Independence Day with the Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness Money Bomb. Our forebears pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honors to each other in their struggle for liberty from the British. So, in addition to fireworks and barbecue, those of us who continue the struggle for human freedom today should honor the occasion by pledging our support to the causes we hold dear.

If you are not familiar with the concept, a money bomb is essentially an online pledge drive where people come together to meet a contribution goal in a specific time period. When we held the first Independence Day money bomb in 2012 our goal was a modest $1,000.

Show-Me Cannabis has exceeded that goal by nearly half, but still that shows just how much Show-Me Cannabis has grown in just the last two years. During the last money bomb at the beginning of the spring, they raised over $10,000 in just a few days, and that money enabled them to post billboards, establish continuous radio advertising, and bring a number of medical cannabis patients and advocates to Jefferson City to speak to their legislators back in April.

$10,000 was an ambitious goal in March, but they aim to top it — multiple times over. They are finding large contributors who are willing to match the grassroots contributions given during the money bomb dollar for dollar!

That means that if they raise $10,000 in grassroots contributions, they could end up raising $30,000, $40,000, $50,000, or even $60,000 depending on the number of large contributors who are willing to match.

A successful initiative campaign to legalize cannabis will likely cost in the neighborhood of $5 million, and this event can be the foundation upon which they build that campaign. Help lay the cornerstone.

BONUS! Those making a single contribution of $50 or more, or a recurring donation of $10/month or more, will receive a free Show-Me Cannabis wristband, full-color informational pamphlets to distribute, and a handwritten thank you note. Donate $100 or more, or setup a recurring contribution of $20/month or more, and you’ll receive all that plus a free Show-Me Cannabis t-shirt!

Show-Me Cannabis is an association of organizations and individuals who believe that cannabis prohibition is a failed policy, and regulating cannabis in a manner similar to alcohol would better control the production, distribution and consumption of cannabis than the current criminal market system does.

Show-Me Cannabis seeks to engage Missourians in a serious, public discussion about the issues associated with the cannabis consumption, including medical cannabis, industrial hemp, public safety and financial analysis in order to address problems associated with the current, failed policy.

Because there is no legal access to cannabis, nearly 30 million Americans last year met their consumer demand from a federally illegal market.  Without the accountability and transparency of governmental oversight over this business, violent criminals have complete control of the marijuana market in a manner similar to the days of alcohol prohibition.  Show-Me Cannabis Regulation seeks to address these problems by returning control of cannabis to government and private business, rather than criminal enterprise.
