The staff over at The Atlantic are always working on cutting-edge investigative pieces with real social impact. Sometimes, this means looking at certain national issues through a larger, global lens.

As a means of examining the a long-stalled bill intended to guarantee maternity leave to women workers in the United States, The Atlantic republished an informative world map. It shows, by color, what countries mandate for maternity leave.

The United States is the only developed nation with no national program to either provide income benefits to new parents or to mandate that employers pay a portion of salary for post-partum leave. You can check out the original article and the excellent map over at The Atlantic.
