The FREE HER rally and campaign is organizing women and others in support of ending mass incarceration to gather on the Washington Mall on June 21, 2014 to (1) raise awareness of the increase in the rate of incarceration of women in the United States and the impact on our children and communities,  (2) Demand an end to voter disenfranchisement for people with felony convictions and (3)  to ask President Obama to commute the sentences of women and men in the federal system who have applied for commutation.

Families for Justice as Healing: Building Up People, Not Prisons

Women coming together to speak from one voice will raise awareness of the devastating impact that overly harsh drug sentencing policies have had on women and their children and how mass incarceration and the war on drugs has directly impacted communities of color. In ten years the incarceration rate for women in general has increased 400% and 800% for African-American women.

Families for Justice as Healing is organizing buses  from organizations from cities and states throughout the country to come together and use all voices as one. After the June rally, they will use their organized voices to continue to call, email and send postcards to encourage the President and raise awareness among everyday people of the need to end the war on drugs and mass incarceration of women throughout the United States.
