ASTROLOGY: Virgo, Nobody’s Bitch

Well, it’s that time of year, when the summer begins to wind down, and you start noticing the days getting shorter. The Sun left the sign of Leo-the energy that lets us reconnect with our inner child every summer on August 22nd and entered the sign of Virgo, the sign of “It’s time to get back to work”.

But, the energy “Virgo” is not just about some vulnerable little virgin toiling in the fields. The original meaning of Virgo is “A woman owned by no man”.

So, if you want to put that into today’s terms, Virgo is the energy of “Nobody’s Bitch”.

Virgo is a humble, practical energy. She may look like she’s a slave to a job that deals with the minutiae, but she is definitely NOT.

She analyzes things, so she knows exactly how much she can handle, and alters her schedule and her activities in a practical, healthy manner. Virgo doesn’t need the spotlight, though she does want to feel needed.

If she comes to the conclusion her lifestyle is impractical or going to interfere with her well-being, she would rather mop floors and clean toilets than be a slave to her career in the spotlight or a lifestyle that relies on a lot of money.

When the Sun is in Virgo, it is a good time to analyze our activities of daily living and ask ourselves if they are healthy: mentally, spiritually and physically.

Are our daily schedules practical or are we trying to burn the candle at both ends? Are the daily tasks of your job taking away from the simple pleasures in your life? Is your career forcing you to sacrifice your spiritual self?

If so, this is the time to let go of the things that are not practical. The new moon on September 5th would be a great time to begin a healthier diet, start a new job, or create a daily schedule for yourself that is realistic.

One interesting thing to look out for while the Sun is in Virgo this year, is that on September 11th, the North Node (“destiny/karma”) is conjunct Saturn (our limitations and mortality) in Scorpio (where we are painfully aware of our vulnerability).  This may bring back unwanted memories of 9/11, but it’s important not to over-react.

Luckily, the Moon is in optimistic Sagittarius that day as well, allowing us to see the big picture, if we choose to look at it. The Sagittarius Moon will form a grand trine to retrograde Uranus (sudden insight, detachment, re-evaluating what “I know”) and Mars in Leo (ego, action and desire).

Hopefully we can look back on the past with wisdom and gain some insight to re-evaluate some of our reactions to that fateful day (such as the Patriot Act and the NSA, maybe?).

The Full Moon in dreamy, empathetic Pisces takes place early in the morning on September 19th.  It’s a good energy for putting oneself in another’s shoes.  It’s also good for meditation, and for helping others. This would also be a good day for creativity, music and other artistic matters.  The Pisces moon opposing the Virgo Sun is asking us to balance our spiritual life with our practical life.  We all need to escape from reality sometimes, and the Virgo Sun is humbly asking you to integrate spirituality into your routine.

(August 23-September 22)

You’ve been working hard on yourself all year, Virgo!  This month should feel a little lighter for you, so feel free to break out of your practical self and indulge in some impractical vices: spend a little money on the 26th of August, eat some pastries on September 1st, and hang out with your favorite goddesses on September 22nd.

(September 23-October 22)

The crybabies have finally left the building, and you are surrounded by more balanced, civilized folk this month.  The 7th, 8th, and 9th are lucky days for negotiating what you want and what you deserve.  You have a temporary freak out on the 11th, but are feeling more optimistic and balanced again by the 12th.

(October 23-November 21)

With Saturn still in your sign, you’re having trouble letting your best qualities shine.  However, some much needed love and recognition comes your way after September 12th.  The full moon in Pisces on the 19th brings out your intuitive, empathetic and creative sides.

(November 22-December 21)

Venus and Mars are working in your favor early this month. Enjoy socializing the week of September 7th through the 14th. It could lead to a either a romantic or business partnership! Unfortunately, it’s back to work by the 15th. An eccentric genius comes to your aid on the 16th.

(December 22-January 19)

From now until the 9th would be a good time for you to start getting all your ducks in a row. You’re ready to work hard to achieve success, now. Don’t kill the messenger on the 12th. Take the information you receive with a grain of salt. Ask and you shall receive on the 19th.

(January 20-February 18)

Things just haven’t quite been going your way, but don’t freak out just yet. You finally receive some much-needed good news after the 10th, and are ready to move forward.  You should be able to get what you need on the 15th and 16th.

(February 19-March 20)

Your focus this month is finding balance between reality and that fantasy world you so love to escape to.  You definitely feel nurtured on August 30th and 31st. Your empathetic side is appreciated on the 5th. Your intuition is strong, and others wish to emulate your forgiving nature. The Full Moon on the 19th brings out the guru in you.

(March 21-April 19)

With Mars finally out of weepy, emotional Cancer, and in the sign of creative, fiery Leo, you finally have your energy back.  You’re feeling romantic, too, but don’t let all those compliments go to your head.  The best times for love are from now until September 10th.

(April 20-May 20)

Your focus is on finding balance in your life between now and September 8th. You may have to deal with a small financial crisis after the 12th, but if you ask help from a fellow Virgo or Gemini, they will have your back! Your luckiest days are the 1st, 7th and 22nd of September.

(May 21-June 20)

So, you had a little case of diarrhea of the mouth in August. You just couldn’t keep your thoughts and feelings to yourself! This month, you are more cautious about what you reveal, and that should pay off for you all month long. Your negotiating powers are strong around September 7th and 8th.

(June 21-July 22)

You are not feeling as comfortable as usual with your emotions this month, and you just want to hide in your shell. Your real friends understand, and they will not chastise you for any emotional turmoil you may be experiencing. Feel free to tell anyone who unfairly criticizes you to take a hike after September 13th.

(July 23-August 22)

With Mars in your sign this month, you are feeling ready for some action!  Don’t let your ego get the best of you on September 2nd, though.  You love romance and the thrill of the case.  Just don’t make any promises or commitments you might regret until after September 10th.
